I grew up as a poor country boy, shy, insecure. Worked hard in the yard, not having much time to "play" with neighbors ( had only 2 and they lived quite a distance away ).
There was a small Baptist church not far from home that I was made to go on Sundays. I usually would sneak out ( especially at night ) while the service was going on. About 10 the Lord touched my heart in service, and I went up , shook the preachers hand, confessed that Jesus was Lord, and then left on my own to figure things out. No-one took me under their wing for guidance, gave me a Bible to read, or tried to direct me.
Soooo, I ended up in the wilderness.
Years went by and I began getting into alcohol and drugs, frequenting the bars more than anywhere else. I ended up being Nick the Greeks right hand man in Bartow Fla. I was using a 24 hr. taxi service as a front to do Nicks dirty work. One Sunday morning early, I was easing through town and glanced over to my left at a church, and the car filled with the Glory of God. I didn't know what was happening, so blinded with tears, I stepped on the gas and got away from there , the Glory leaving as I speed away. Years later, I was in a bar, broke, desolate, un-happy, and looked around me saying within " there MUST be something better than this".
Well, shortly after that God intervened dramatically in my life.
The next event in my life was taking up the bible and reading the book of Daniel ( see DREAMS and VISIONS blog ). After that, I felt the draw of God, and began dropping off the things I felt impressed to like quitting smoking, quit cussing, quit drinking. ANYTHING I was being impressed to do, I was doing. I remember going to a small church gathering and was supposed to play my guitar and sing. Well, when it came time to sing, I opened my mouth and couldn't sing. All I could do was cry. I would re-group and try again, and as soon as I opened my mouth again, the same thing. Everyone in the congregation was looking at me like I was stupid EXCEPT for a woman in the first row. She had a huge smile on her face ! And kept saying GLORY !!! That only made it worse for me ( I thought worse ).
Sooo, time progressed, and I was OBEYING from the heart every leading God was giving.
I went to a small gathering where a street preacher was preaching. I had a hunger to hear , so I went and just couldn't stay because the preacher was so loud that it hurt my ears. Two weeks later I saw the same preacher, so I went to hear him again. I was determined to sit through the whole session! I was on the front row, and listening to him, and there was a stirring inside me, and thought I was about to break down crying. I put my head down, trying to gain control, (which took a moment), and as I was able to trust myself, I slowly began lifting my head. In front of me was and angel of the Lord, or the Lord, with his hands held out to me palms up. My looking didn't go any further than his shoulders and my head was down again, thinking I had really messed up, and should have went with what was happening inside me. I vowed that if it happened again, I would not try to restrain it because I KNEW it was from the Lord.
Well, two weeks later I saw that same preacher ! I went straight to the meeting, and thinking what I had vowed, got a seat waaaay back in the last row. The place began to be packed ! The people was coming in, and coming in! I put my bible in my spot to hold it for me, and begin helping get people seated. The place was packed ! Then I thought, Oh No, I probably have lost my seat, but, it was still there. I was so afraid of being embarrassed ! This time the preacher brought with him a piano player I ended up calling her the little Holy Ghost woman, and when she started playing and everyone began singing, well, there comes that feeling again........At first I resisted, but just for a second because I remember my vow, and as SOON as I relinquished MY will, Oh Lord !!!!! I was on my tiptoes hand in the air, some kind of different language was coming from my mouth, as the flowing of the River of Life was bathing me, Filling me. Suddenly I was prostrate, on knees, on face travailing in tongues, then the Spirit would lift me back to my toes, hands in the air, tongues rolling. Back and forth , back and forth for about 20 minutes ! Everyone in the meeting was caught up in the same song and sang over and over ! After about 20 minutes of this, I was leaning up against a wall, DRUNK ! I MEAN drunk !!! I thought , well, I had better help sing, so picked up the song book and started singing, I was reading in English, but another language was coming forth from my mouth. I had no idea I had just received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost !
So, a start to a new and adventurous life enfolded....

Limiting God
“Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” (Psalm 78:41)
Can you limit God? The Bible says Israel did. And we have limited Him. We have limited Him with our pray life.
John Wesley, founder of Methodism, said, “It seems that God is limited by our prayer life. He can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him to do it.”
Why is this?
You see, God made the world and the fullness thereof. Then He made and gave man dominion over all the works of His hands. Adam was the god of this world. Adam, however, committed high treason and sold out to Satan. Then Satan became the god of this world ( 2 Cor 4:).
God doesn’t just move in on top of Satan. If He did, then Satan could accuse God of doing the same thing he had done. But God devised a plan of salvation, and sent His Son, whom Satan could not and did not touch, to consummate it. Through Jesus, God redeemed mankind!
Now authority has been restored to us through Jesus Christ - and when we ask God, then He can move! That is why it seems He can do nothing unless someone asks Him to do it.
Confession: I take my place in prayer. I join forces with my Father in carrying out His will upon the earth.

Foundation
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” ( 2 Timothy 2:15)
“I believe I’ll try that,” someone might say referring to how I took my authority over the spirit binding my brother. It won’t work if you try it. I didn’t try it - I did it!
Just because someone sees a traffic policeman exercising his authority, they can’t just run out in front of the cars and say, “I believe I’ll try that.” No one would obey them. Now if they’d put on a policeman’s uniform and put a whistle in their mouth, people would stop. They’d recognize the authority.
Children of God sometimes hear how someone else used their authority and think, I’ll try that because I heard him say it. It worked for him, so it will work for me. Satan knows they are not convinced of their authority. And when they try to act on God’s Word without really having that Word built into their spirits and the solid foundation of it in their lives, the devil will defeat them and defeat them badly.
But when you’re got a foundation of the Word in you and you act on God’s Word - you’ll defeat the devil in every combat!
Confession: I study to show myself approved unto God. I build into my life and spirit the truths of God’s Word. I am convinced by God’s Word of my Authority. I cannot be defeated. And the devil knows it.

God’s Word teaches that Satan and evil spirits are rebel holders of authority, and that they have been dethroned by the Lord Jesus Christ. Notice how Moffatt’s translation calls them, “dethroned Powers who rule this world.”
God made the earth and the fullness thereof and gave Adam dominion, or authority, over all the works of His hands (Gen 1:27,28; Ps 8:3-6). Adam had dominion on the earth; he was the god of this world. When he committed high treason and sold out to Satan, Satan through Adam became the god of this world (see 2 Cor 4:4) and a rebel holder of Adam’s authority.
But the Bible calls Jesus Christ the last Adam (1 Cor 15:45). He came as our representative man, as our substitute, and defeated Satan! He didn’t do it for Himself He did it for us! All that Jesus did belongs to us.
We believers are to remember that we are in the world but we’re not of it. Satan’s not to dominate us. We are to dominate him. We can dominate him. We have authority over him. Jesus defeated him for us.
Confession: Jesus has dethroned Satan and all his cohorts for me. Satan cannot dominate me. I dominate him. Jesus gave me authority over Satan and I will use it.
